Jayasuriya and Dilshan set up victory
Sanath Jayasuriya may be turning 40 at the end of the month but his demolition of the West Indian attack, which paved the way for Sri Lanka's 15-run victory at Trent Bridge, was as violent as any innings played during his heydays. In the absence of Chris Gayle, Jayasuriya ensured that the crowd had its fill of massive hits, blitzing 81 off only 47 balls, and his occupation of centre stage was so complete that Tillakaratne Dilshan's second half-century of the tournament was largely overshadowed until after his dismissal.

Jayasuriya rolls back the years for Sri Lanka
IT is a shame Sanath Jayasuriya is not ten years younger because there are few batsmen better to watch in Twenty20 cricket when in full flight.
Long before the shortest form of the game was invented, Jayasuriya was carving a reputation as one of the world's most destructive players.

T20 World Cup Cricket Betting: Australia v Sri Lanka

The absence of Andrew Symonds seems to have wounded Australia more than some may have thought. Defeat to Sri Lanka will ensure instant elimination and that's a pretty likely scenario, says Andrew Hughes.

Australia were crushed by the West Indies but in the absence of Andrew Symonds and they have little room for re-jigging the batting line-up. Nathan Hauritz or Cameron White may well come in, possibly at the expense of Brett Lee. Sri Lanka have been using Tilekeratne Dilshan at the top of the order, with Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakarra floating in the middle order. Mutiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis and Lasith Malinga form a powerful bowling attack.

Sri Lanka aim to finish what West Indies started

Sri Lanka's campaign in the World Twenty20 will be the last to get underway when they play Australia in Nottingham on Monday. The contest is significant because it is Sri Lanka's first international since the players survived the Lahore terror attacks and it's Kumar Sangakkara first game as captain since he took over the leadership from Mahela Jayawardene. The biggest draw of the match, though, is the precarious position Sri Lanka's opponents are in for Australia are a defeat away from becoming the first major side to get knocked out of the competition.

Ricky Ponting's Australia must lift to survive in World Twenty20

A tough World Twenty20 campaign just became a whole lot harder for Australia with their tournament future hinging on a victory over Sri Lanka on Monday.

Having lost star all-rounder Andrew Symonds to probably his last disciplinary lapse, Ricky Ponting's men could ill afford their thumping seven-wicket defeat at the hands of a rampant West Indies in their first match.

Australia v Sri Lanka, World Twenty20 Preview

Sri Lanka's first match of the tournament is the most crucial one for Australia, who must win to stay alive in an event which has barely started. Even then a victory might not be enough after their heavy seven-wicket loss to West Indies, which puts them well behind on net run-rate. On Saturday Ricky Ponting was trying not to think of the consequences, which include the possibility of two weeks of punishment in Leicester, and will rev up his men as they attempt to avoid a fifth Twenty20 international loss in a row.
